My life is a Fairy Tale & it sucks

I find it strange how people always reference fairy tales in this idealistic light, as if they're perfect just because in the end they lived happily ever after. I'm sorry, but fairy tales are fucked up. So what if they lived happily ever after? What about all the traumatic crap they had to go through to get to that point? I mean come on, wicked step-mothers leaving children in the forest & making them work like indentured servants. When we told my step-son we were getting married, he actually cried because he said he didn't want me to be his step-mother because I would turn mean. And what about all the stupid decisions they make? Why in the world would Ariel, give up her voice to turn human when it was obvious it was her sweet little mermaid voice that woke the drowned prince up in the first place? Her own father had the power to turn her human the whole time. I'm sure if she had gone to him & explained that she was considering making some kind of deal with Ursula the Sea Witch he would have caved. And I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree because then King Triton went & switched places with the poor captured Ariel, handing his Trident over to Ursula & making her all powerful. That really wasn't very smart because then the whole damn sea was in danger including the spoiled Ariel. I have noticed that in my own life I've had my fair share of tribulations, albeit not quite as brutal as most fairy tales. Do you think this means I'll eventually live happily ever after? And if I do, will everything I've been through be worth it in the end?
