I haven't written here in a long time & a few people have been asking me when I'm going to start again, so here you go. Mostly it's because I've been so busy with school, but also because I've had some personal things going on causing feelings that I don't care to publicly share right now. I can't promise I'll update as regularly as I used to, but I will make an effort.

Last night on American Idol they all sang Barry Manilow songs. Since I'm an out of the closet Manilow fan, Maggie isn't really a stranger to his music and during commercials she felt compelled to entertain us with her rendition of "Mandy". Lately she's really been paying attention to the lyrics of most songs we listen to & asks lots of questions about what they mean. Therefore, I just had to explain to her the meaning of Mandy. It went something like this:

Maggie: Mommy, why does he need Mandy today?
Me: Because he loves her.
Maggie: Then why did he send her away?
Me: Because boys are stupid like that sometimes. Remember that, it will help you later in life.
Maggie: Well why won't she come back now that he needs her?
Me: Because she doesn't want to be hurt again.
Maggie: How did he hurt her?
Me: Because when he sent her away, he hurt her feelings.
Maggie: Well that wasn't very nice. He should apologize then they can be happy.

Ah the logic of a child...if only things were that simple.
